Scalaix documentation

An OpenAI-compatible model gateway and an API builder for AI endpoints, behind one account and one key format.

Scalaix sits between your application and the model providers. You can use it in two ways, from the same account, with the same keys.

Model gatewayAPI builder
You callhttps://www.scalaix.com/v1/chat/completionshttps://www.scalaix.com/<project>/<collection>/<endpoint>
You sendOpenAI chat messages{"inputs": {...}}, typed by you
You getAn OpenAI chat completion{"data": ...} shaped by your output schema
Best forCode that already talks to OpenAIPrompts you want to ship as a stable API

Both go through the same key rules, budgets, caching, routing and fallback, and both land in the same usage report.

How the pieces fit

  • A team holds billing and credits. It's the same team you use in Axyen. In the console, the project switcher (top left) moves between the team's projects, and the account menu (bottom left) switches teams and opens Billing. Scalaix is pay as you go: buy credits in the console and usage is charged from them (see How you're billed).
  • A project belongs to a team. Its slug is the first segment of your published URLs (www.scalaix.com/acme/...). It holds default gateway settings, keys, collections and usage. The project's Settings page has three tabs: General (name, slug, description, public API docs), Gateway (the defaults every key inherits) and Danger zone (delete the project: its keys stop working, published APIs return 404 and the docs are taken down). Test data (environments, saved test cases and runs) is in the console's developer pane, with request logs, a shell for real API calls and an inspector.
  • A key (sx_ followed by 40 characters) belongs to a project. Each key can narrow the project's settings: which models, which collections, a monthly budget, a rate limit, allowed origins and IP ranges. See Keys and rules.
  • A collection groups related endpoints, for example support.
  • An endpoint is one AI operation such as classify-ticket: a model, a system prompt, a prompt template with {{variables}}, typed inputs and an output format.
  • A version is an immutable snapshot of a collection, created when you publish.

Where to go next

  • Quickstart: make a key and send your first request in a few minutes.
  • Gateway API: the OpenAI-compatible endpoints, headers and errors.
  • Collections: build and publish your first endpoint.
  • Guides: the OpenAI SDKs, LiteLLM, LangChain, the Vercel AI SDK, n8n and curl.
